Valued Seawatch Owners,
This week we remained busy at Seawatch. We continued to move forward in many areas of our reconstruction. I was pleased to see, one morning when I pulled in, the great big orange boom lift, meaning that Coastal Canvas would be shortly behind to put up the first set of window canopies. As you can see, Seawatch is starting to look like her old self again! We hope in the next couple of weeks to be receiving the entryway canopy. Tropix was in to reset all the plants in the lobby atrium. It was nice to see the atriums looking as it used to be. Dormakaba was here to begin installing the control panels for our lock system. They were not able to finish all the work and will be
returning soon. We received our replacement dishwashers this week. The replacement washer / dryers should be available in the next couple of weeks. In the Game Room, our new pool table was delivered and set up along with a Foosball table and the TV was mounted for the new video gaming system. The nostalgia Stick game system has over 100 video games on it and should be a fun addition for the kids at the resort. The Ping Pong table will be added
soon. As a reminder, all the games in the Game Room will be free; no coin operated games will be brought back.
On the exterior, the electrical lines were run to the privacy wall by the pool and south patio, and the lights were installed. Amerigas was at the site to review the locations for the above ground propane tanks. On the north side it will be located close to where it had been before, but closer to the parking lot, since our diesel storage tank for the back-up generator will now be above ground due to new regulations. The north tank will supply the hot tub and the grills. With the necessary movement of the hot tub filter pack, we will have all 4 grills next to each other along the wall. On the south side, the tank will supply both the grills on that side and will serve as a back-up to the geothermal heating unit for the pool on those “wintery” times! On the upper pool deck area, between the pool bathrooms, the new drainage trench was cut in the underlay, and the drain line was run for the icemaker to the flower bed. The new icemaker will now sit next to the pop machine between pool bathrooms, making it more convenient, and much easier to get to than behind the Sales office. Esi/Doland Engineering was out to finalize the layout for the pool deck area and will be finalizing the elevations this week, hopefully allowing us to pour the pool deck concrete the following week. On the tennis court, the repair company began to level the top surface. This will take a few coatings to make sure it is completely flat and level before putting down the painted final surface.
For a quick update on our neighbors, Island Winds continues their repairs and are not open yet. Gulf View is up for sale, but no work has been done on it for many months. As you can see from the pictures, The Dolphin was finally knocked down giving the 01 and 06 units a great view of the inter-coastal waterway.
In closing, the situation everyone wants more information about is the cast iron piping. Unfortunately, based on the reports and videos that were done, all the plumbing at Seawatch is going to be replaced. It is not known yet how much, or if insurance is going to cover it. Starting on Monday 7/15, one stack is going to be opened and replaced. This will tell us roughly how long it will take, how much it will cost, and everything that is involved to make all the repairs. After the plumbing repairs are completed and pass inspection, the repair crew for the walls and paint will commence so the down time can be kept as minimal as possible. I know this is not what everyone
wanted to hear, but unfortunately at this point it is unavoidable.
As a friendly reminder, Seawatch is an active construction site, please refrain from coming to the property until we reopen.
Staying Seawatch Strong,
Chip Fosth
