October 9, 2024 Chip Fosth Update

Valued Seawatch Owners,

As I’m sure most of all you know, these reports are written in advance and go through a number of levels of Hilton review, including Legal before being posted on the website. That being said, by the time you are reading this, Seawatch will be engulfed by Hurricane Milton. We will have taken every precaution we can to maintain the progress we have made so far from Hurricane Ian. This past week’s progress will be outlined below. We had previously optimistically anticipated a re-opening date of Week 43, October 26th. Depending on the magnitude of the storm, it is certainly possible that date may no longer be possible. Recovery from the storm will certainly impact the work being done on the pool, spa, parking lot, pool bar and most things outdoors. Rain started Saturday 10/5 and has continued since. The Seawatch Team has worked tirelessly to prepare the resort until the mandatory evacuation of FMB was observed on Monday 10/7/24 at 3PM.

In the week before the storm, we cleaned up the remnants of Hurricane Helene, moving all of the sand off the pool deck, parking lot and tennis court. Repaired a number of the sections of the new pool deck that had minor damage to them, cleared the pool deck drains, and cleared the debris that had washed up to our fences. The pool had been pumped down; re-acid washed and prepped for the new pebble-tech shell. The new pool bar top templates were made for installation this week.

On the inside, housekeeping is becoming more organized and the process of putting the rooms back together began after the cast iron replacement is ongoing. Running dishes and laundry and cleaning up all the aftermath from that project. All our new pillows for the rooms were delivered. Our duct cleaning company was in cleaning out the room ducts. This will continue after we are allowed to go back to the beach after the storm. Our new living room and dining room furniture began being delivered on Friday, 10/4, and trucks were delivered on Saturday 10/5. Deliveries will resume when we are given clearance to return to the island. The drywall, texturing, and painting has continued on the 03, 04, and 05 stacks at the end of our cast iron replacement project. All inspections were passed, and work is continuing on getting the rest of the rooms buttoned up.

We are keeping everyone in the path of this storm in our thoughts and prayers and hope everyone takes the precautions necessary to keep their families safe. The team at Seawatch knows how badly you owners want to be back at your home away from home and hope the storm damage will be minimal. I will be putting out a new report as soon as possible with the resort’s condition.

Staying Seawatch Strong…again,

Chip Fosth
