Valued Owners,
We continued with another busy week as we prepared for our opening on the 16th! Please remember this is our goal but not a guarantee. On the outside, we had to tear out both the smoking patio and the south patio from the damage caused by Hurricane Milton. Both areas were cleared, filled, and graded. The forms were placed for pouring the cement underlay. During the Board meeting 2 weeks ago, they voted to rebuild with a poured concrete base similar to the rest of the pool deck to prevent future minor storms from damaging these areas. Having to repair them from storms Helene and Milton made the decision an easy one. We changed companies for the pool deck railings, the quality we saw from the first company was not up to our standards. The new company is custom building them in place, fabricating each section and fitting it to where they sit. After fabricating them, the final welding will be done at their facility, then the welds will be ground down smooth, then they will be dipped and coated with the bronze finish we requested. After being brought back to the resort, the mounting holes will be cut for the final installation. The beach grading was completed, and it looks great! The trees for the island in the front parking lot were installed and the irrigation lines were run for the rest of the new plantings. The outsides of the parking lot had all the ground turned over and prepared for the new landscaping. Across the street we used some of the reclaimed pavers from the old pool deck and put in a walkway to the tennis court, giving it a more finished look.
On the inside, the plumbing valve project is almost completed. Floors 1-5 are completed, and the finished drywall and paint will begin on Monday. The cast iron project was completed, and all the finished drywall has been completed and the painting is done. The housekeeping department is working through the changes with our new laundry company. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian was too much for our old one and they closed, affected all the HGV resorts in SWFL. In the front office, we were finally able to get the technology for the resort door system installed. We are supposed to have the final programming and training on the system this week. Our new lobby carpeting is scheduled for the 6th and after installation we can set up all the new furniture for the lobby. Clive Danie’s continued to deliver the new living room and dining room furniture for the units. They will be back on the 7th and 8th to set up all the rooms. From what I’ve seen so far, I think you will like the direction we went. Next week’s report will have pictures. The elevator pits were both cleaned and waterproofed. We finally received some of the elevator panels we had been waiting for. Both elevator cabs will be rebuilt over time. This obviously won’t happen prior to our opening. We will have elevators when we open, and when we finally receive all the updating parts, we will work on them one at a time so there will always be an active car. All around the resort, inside and out, they are touching up all the paint. Comcast was here Friday afternoon and brought us cable boxes for our game room and lobby tv’s. The new video game system for the game room was set up. The system has 1000’s of games, so I am confident that will be very popular with the kids. The only thing left for the game room is to repopulate the book and DVD libraries.
We will be celebrating the Seawatch re-opening on the afternoon of Friday the 15th, beginning at 1PM. The Chamber of Commerce will be here, along with a number of the vendors who have supplied us with goods and services during our recovery. More importantly, it will give local owners, who own at other times of the year, and opportunity to see Seawatch, without disrupting the owners who will be staying there during their weeks. I know everyone is eager to see the finished product, and even though we won’t be 100% completed I know owners who live close by will want to drive by and see us. If you are local, I invite you to come by and meet our new front desk team, say Hi to the rest of us. Mile from Sales will be taking groups up to the rooms so you can see the new furniture and some of the other updates. We can’t wait to have all of you back at Seawatch. Thank you all for your continued support after all this time. We can’t wait to see you at check-in soon!
Seawatch Strong,
Chip Fosth
