January 13, 2024 Update

Good morning fellow owners, On Thursday , January 11, 2024, the town officials held a meeting with condo owners and Board Presidents to discuss the issues facing these parties with the rebuilding process. As Chip was tied up with the FPL restoration, I attended the meeting via Zoom. To summarize, it was apparent that the permitting problems that have caused so much delay in rebuilding effort are a common problem for everyone and we are no exception. While time will tell, hopefully the town officials got the message loud and clear that things need to improve. The other problem that was apparent involves payment of insurance claims. While we are not suffering from that problem, many properties have spent a lot of money and have been reimbursed little to none from insurance carriers and several stated they are going to have to sue their wind carriers, property carriers, or both. As I have explained previously, when Seawatch does re-open, we will be way ahead of many neighboring properties and the island in general because of issues like slow reimbursement of insurance claims to smaller properties. As for our property, this week, we secured our permit approval for the south boundary wall parallel to the swimming pool. Lack of this permit was delaying the entire rebuilding effort of the pool and patio areas and grounds. We are cautiously optimistic that our restoration process can accelerate now that the major permits are approved. Thank you, Tim
